Watercolour Framing Options
Why should I Frame my watercolour Artwork?
Watercolours are painted on watercolour paper and should always be framed behind glass. Professional framing is therefore recommended to protect your painting from the elements, dust, and mildew and to prevent the paper from buckling due to humidity in the air. If you follow the care instructions provided by the artist, your painting will last for many years to come. The same applies to coloured pencil and graphite pencil artworks. Oil paintings on the other hand do not require framing.
I currently offer two framing options to help Clients prolong the lifespan of their precious artwork:
Classic Frame
Deep frame, light wooden finish (veneer) or dark wooden finish (veneer), framed behind glass with a 50mm matting board to finish off the painting. Hanging frame ONLY. A golden plaque with the person or pet’s name can be added to the frame. The lead time on framing is an additional two weeks from the artwork being completed. Art Glass (Gallery Glass: UV Protective, Non-Reflective) can be added at an additional fee – to be quoted.
Floating Frame
Deep wooden floating frame. Framed between glass. Hanging frame ONLY. Real wood, available in Red Oak, Brown Kiaat or Rose Wood. ***NOT suitable for coloured pencil or graphite pencil portraits. The lead time on framing is an additional 3 working days from the artwork being completed.
